The Shirley Police Department was established on February 10, 1936. The department is made up of Fourteen Police Officers, which includes the Chief of Police, Lieutenant, two Sergeants, Detective and Police Officers. The communications department includes four full-time dispatchers, part-time dispatchers, a full-time public safety administrative assistant, and an Animal Control Officer. Chief Samuel Santiago and his Command Staff manage an annual budget for the police, communications and animal control department which provide police, fire and emergency medical services 24/7 to the citizens of Shirley.
The Shirley Police Department was recently awarded the AAA Pedestrian Safety Commendation for 21 years without pedestrian fatalities. The police officers and staff of the Shirley Police Department are dedicated to providing the highest quality of public safety and law enforcement services utilizing best practices to the people who live, work and play in the Town of Shirley.
